We are fortunate enough to still have the first school log book and some others too. Here is the first page from when the school was opened on 1 October 1878:

We are in the process of photographing many of the pages to give a snapshot of school life in the past. If you have any old photos or memories of the school in the past we would be pleased to hear from you. Also we are interested to collect information about the Whaplode Drove National School which closed many years ago now. For contact details please see the main school site.

  1. Year 4 have been looking at the Log book entry today.
Here is what they have said about it:

It was very interesting to read about the weather. It made us realise that roads would have been rough and very muddy if it rained (Jessie)

It is amazing how many people started to come into school over just 3 weeks! (Joe)

I didn’t know that they would have had gravel put around the school (Callum C)
    I didn’t know that either(Florence)

I can’t believe that some people didn’t even know what one add one was in this school!(Thomas)

I can’t believe that some people didn’t eve know the alphabet! (Jessie)

I can’t believe that only one person could do a sum! (Edward)
